For the past few weeks the chapel speakers have had something in common with their stories: at some point in time, somewhere a long the line, the woman they loved said something very harsh to them. And that harsh word was the "kick in the pants" they needed to become the men of God they were striving to be. I found it very interesting, as I've always had almost a stigma against a guy changing just for the woman he loves. But obviously, Christ can and does use even that. It has made me ponder the failures of the past, and wonder if he'd be a different man today if I had simply stood up for what I knew was truth, and been that "kick in the pants" he needed. Did my choosing to simply ignore some major issues only aid him in his impending destruction? Not that I am blaming myself, I fully understand that he was and still is capable of making his own choices and being quite responsible for them. But I wonder....could I have helped more than I hindered?
Perhaps this is all much to personal for a blog. As it seems, no one really even reads this as of yet, and those who do are mostly acquainted with my life already. Therefore, I will continue on as it is late and I have no pen and paper before me to spill out my thoughts.
Even as these thoughts have had me turned toward the past, they also have encouraged me towards the future. I now think to my current situation and position in a certain young man's life and wonder....how can I encourage him towards righteousness? The more I mull this thought over, the more I realize the tiny things that might not be helping either of us. And quite honestly, its heartbreaking. To think that I, innocently enough, have not been encouraging a brother towards righteousness but in all likelihood have been turning him to the very opposite direction! So, by the grace of God, I will strive to be that "kick in the pants". May God grant me the words to say and the time to say them in. And may the LORD develop in us such a deep distain for the sins that ravage our souls so totally. Amen.
Now, you may be wondering "why is this titled 'In her Eyes'?" Well, I will tell you. Its the title of a Josh Groban song, and I think it speaks to the ways we women can encourage and support our men. And with this, I bid thee all a sweet night of the Lord's rest.
"In Her Eyes"
She stares through my shadow
She sees something more
Believes there's a light in me
She is sure
And her truth makes me stronger
Does she realize
I awake every morning
With her strength by my side
I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am
This world keeps on spinning
Only she stills my heart
She's my inspiration
She's my northern star
I don't count my possession
All I call mine
I will give her completely
To the end of all time
I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am
In her eyes I see the sky and all I'll ever need
In her eyes time passes by and she is with me
I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am
In her eyes I am
