The Quest
by *Chuck*
At highest high noon he stood on his hill
and looked out across the earth.
His search was for power, for beauty, for wealth,
for any great thing of worth.
"Self," said he "what has happened to thee?
To thy joyous laughter and mirth?
They haven't been seen since the day you did flee
from the youthful land of your birth."
The maiden was fair with locks of gold hair
that shone in winter's sun.
She set out on the plain to destroy the bane
that held her captive so.
"Self," said she "what has happened to thee?
To thy joyous laughter and mirth?
For long have you searched, and in vain have you cried
for love unequaled on earth.
From high on his hill, at the highest high noon
the man looked down from his perch.by *Chuck*

From high on his hill, at the highest high noon
He saw the fair maid, with yellowing braid
and in her saw joy and mirth.
"Self," said he "There is value I see,
and none could equal its worth.
For if this is love it is from heaven above,
And love it truly must be."
Across the gold grass ran the beautiful lass
with a smile to outshine the sun.
For the man she had seen, and from then did she mean
to give him her heart and her all.
"Self," said she "at last now do I see
and fully comprehend
the joy of pouring out all of your love
and of being loved in return"
Friend, you will find not one passer-by
to tell you a different tale
For love is yet strong when not handled wrong
but preserved with the utmost care.
"Self," said I "I would rather die
than suffer the curse of the wealthy.
Grant me no power or beauty to fade,
only let our love grow healthy"
and in her saw joy and mirth.

Blast you're good!
ReplyDeleteI'm just really impressed that you came up with this while driving the grapevine. Yay for rabid plotbunnies, wherever they may strike! ^_^
